Death Mask Workshop

October 2006

In October 2006 we did a Death Mask Workshop prior to Samhain. In the workshop we explored the aspects of ourselves that we did not like, that hid that spark of our spirits and created something that we deeply were not. We looked at the first time we were asked to put on "the mask" and then through out our lives as the masks and requests from family, teachers, relationships, jobs, and society pushed different masks on us. We saw these masks for what they are - false aspects of ourselves - and then created a mask from all that we saw with meditation. this mask could be used as a reminder, used in ritual or burned ritualistically to release us from them and bring our true selves to the world for our highest good. After this work shop was the Queen of Heaven Circle Samhain celebration - many of us took our masks and burned them in the fires that night.
