Diwali November 2005
Diwali is the Hindu Festival of Lights celebration. Each year it is celebration on the New Moon and focuses on the end of ignorance and beginning of knowledge that enlightens all. India looks beautiful on Diwali as people light up diyas and candles to mark the 'Festival of Lights'. Diwali evenings are spent by visiting dear ones and exchanging sweets and Diwali Gifts. This is one of the most popular holidays in India. This was our celebration for this holiday as we created a beautiful altar with Lakshmi, the celebrated goddess of prosperity and wisdom, and Ganesha, the god that removes all karmic obstacles. We cleaned the sanctuary, created a luminaria labyrinth and enjoyed many traditional Indian dishes. There are several aspects to Diwali but we decided to honor Lakshmi and Ganesh for ours.
