Samhain 2008
In traveling through the Wheel of the Year death comes to each of us whether it is a family member, friend, pet, or someone you admire in the world. Each one of us is touched by the lives of another and at this time we honor those who have passed into the spirit realm. For Queen of Heaven Circle we have been touched by this as one of our founding members, Sharon Rucker, moved onto the next phase in her life. We all have been touched by her bright spirit, her enthusiasm for life, her beautiful smile and her wisdom. This Samhain we chose to honored her as well as others in our lives. We know we will see them again when it is our time to move forward.
Queen of Heaven Circle also added in aspects of Día de los Muertos, Day of the Dead. Traditions include building private altars honoring the deceased, using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts. We felt that this is also a time to celebrate life and the lives of those who have passed and to honor the beauty of each spirit.
