Yule Celebration 2005
Yule is an old celebration of the coming of Light to the world. The days prior have grown very dark and this was a scary time for ancient peoples as they believed that ther was a possibility that the light would not return. This is also a time for reflection. A time to go within. The crop having been harvested and the ground fallow left time for people to contemplate their year and see what things they wanted to continue doing in their lives and what they did not want to do. On Winter Solstice the families would stay up and celebrate til early morning and then greet the birth of the Sun. They would bring in evergreens and go wassailing, pouring libations on their apple trees to encourage a boutniful harvest for the coming year.
